Job Description
Senior Engineers collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT teams, operational staff, external vendors, third parties, and business partners, to address security issues across various customer environments. As part of the Security Operations team, you will work independently with limited supervision, executing your functions and responsibilities.
Job Description / Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of this position is the configuration and troubleshooting of client network security infrastructure platforms, including:
- Firewall technologies such as Cisco, Checkpoint, Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc.
- Load Balancer Technologies like Citrix, F5, etc.
- Designing and translating customer business requirements into tactical and/or strategic solutions.
- Collaborating in the design and implementation of complex network technologies (Data Center, Cloud, Hybrid).
- Performing platform lifecycle management activities (patching, upgrades, policy configuration, etc.) for assigned platforms and/or tools.
- Developing and maintaining technical documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Education and/or Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in computer security, network security, design, or information security operations.
- 5+ years of experience with OSPF, BGP routing protocols, Voice Over IP, and QoS configuration.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in the configuration, design, and implementation of firewall, VPN, IPS, vulnerability management platforms, and other security technologies.
- Advanced understanding of IP networking fundamentals, including IPv4, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN design theory, static and dynamic routing protocols, NAT, ACLs, etc.
- Knowledge and in-depth understanding of cloud services (XaaS), enterprise domain architecture design, and operations.
- Awareness and understanding of secure communication and configuration requirements.
- Strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills. Customer-oriented and professional.
- Ability to write technical reports and communicate technical content to non-technical audiences.
- Understanding of information security frameworks, incident management/response, security operations, and application security best practices.
- Support infrequent after-hours and weekend escalations as needed (aside from on-call rotation).
- Bachelor’s degree and relevant network certifications are preferred; work experience and background will be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Basic knowledge of Linux operating systems (command line and GUI) is desirable.
- Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
- Shift includes at least one weekend overnight and cycling on-call rotation.
