About the Opportunity
DMI, LLC seeks an Azure Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience implementing and managing the operational aspects of cloud-native and hybrid data platform solutions built on SQL Server and Azure SQL services. The Azure Data Engineer will be crucial in shaping our building database using Azure PAAS and ensuring our data systems' scalability, reliability, and performance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Experience with strong migrating resources to Azure, Azure Administration, Azure Infrastructure Operations, and end-to-end Project Management.
- Develop data integration strategies to enable seamless data flow across systems.
- Optimize database performance and scalability through efficient design and configuration.
- Implement SQL Server cluster and high availability solutions to ensure maximum uptime and reliability.
- Manage the development and performance of SQL databases for web applications.
- Configure and maintain database servers and processes.
- Develop, implement, and oversee SQL Server database policies and procedures to ensure databases' integrity, availability, and accompanying software.
- Create, maintain, and execute scheduled jobs, data extracts, data refreshes, data loads, and data replication.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, connectivity issues, security issues, etc.
- Support migration efforts from on-premises databases to Azure SQL Database and other cloud-based solutions, including migrating from IaaS SQL Server to PaaS Managed Instance.
- Design and implement Platform as a Service (PaaS) solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform.
- Utilize Azure Data Factory for ETL processes and data migration, including migrating SSIS to Azure Data Factory.
- Utilize Python/PowerShell for scripting and automation tasks related to data processing and analysis.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in data architecture and recommend innovations to enhance our data infrastructure.
Qualifications
Education and Years of Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in Administering SQL Server databases in production environments.
- Contains a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Required and Desired Skills/Certifications:
- Expertise in SQL Server, including database design, optimization, and administration, with experience in SQL Server cluster and high availability configurations.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure data services, including Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, etc.
- Experience with data integration techniques and tools like Azure Data Factory.
- Knowledgeable of T-SQL (Indexes, Triggers, Functions, Packages, and Procedures).
- Knowledge of PowerShell/Python for scripting and automation tasks.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of backups, restores, and recovery models.
- Microsoft Azure certification(s) (e.g., Azure Data Engineer, Azure Solutions Architect) is a plus.
